STEAM ASSIST

Steam Assist is a device that improves the bonding of two single faces in the production of double wall board, particularly for high weight papers such as agricultural grades. It does this by introducing up to 50 kg/h of steam between the two single faces and between the central single face and Double Facer liner, which preconditions the liners and enhances glue absorption, lowers the surface tension of the applied glue to improve adhesiveness, improves heat transfer by removing air between layers, and moisturizes the whole liner surface to prevent the "washboard effect." It also pumps heat into the bond central area of the double wall board and allows for speed increases of up to 10% in double wall and heavy grades by heating areas where Double Facer's hot plates cannot reach. The equipment includes two steamers and a system of steam supply, as well as an electric panel with a control PLC.
